Warners is still planning a futuristic version of Robin Hood, and have a new writer on board to rob poor ideas from the rich British legends
Almost two years ago we first reported that Warner Bros was developing a "Robin Hood in the future" movie. A Danish director called Nicolai Fuglsig – who also pitched the idea – was on board. He was best known then (and still is now) for his work on adverts, most memorable the one for Sony Bravia featuring 250,000 coloured balls bouncing down the largest hill in San Francisco.
Since then thing have gone a bit quiet. We'd assumed that, like so many of these one-line-pitch projects, it had simply fizzled out because the money men at the studio decided the sums didn't work, or the marketing people had run a survey which showed that Lincoln Green was box office suicide. Or something.
But no, the project is still very much alive and Mr Bouncy Balls is still in the director's seat. Deadline reports that Warners has hired Michael Ross to rewrite the script. Jason Dean Hall wrote the first draft, setting the action in a dystopian London, featuring a band of brazen thieves who restore hope in the beleaguered population. Former film editor Ross recently adapted the video game Just Cause for Hitman producer Adrian Askarieh.
