The tablet market is getting more and more crowded, and for good reason, too – it does seem to be a profitable bit of business for whoever gets involved in it, and of all the names, even Sharp has jumped aboard. Their latest model would be the Galapagos A01SH, where it will be the third device in the Galapagos family.

No, it will not hit the US just yet as we haven’t seen it on the FCC to date, but we do know that folks living in Japan will be able to get their hands on it later this month – with us living across the Pacific having to wait until later this year. Just what does the Sharp Galapagos A01SH pack that might persuade you to make a purchase decision? Well, a 7″ display at 1,024 x 600 resolution for starters, coupled with a NVIDIA Tegra 2 1GHz chipset, a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus capability and LED flash, alongside a 2-megapixel secondary camera that is perfect for video calls and respectable self-portraits.

Android 3.2 Honeycomb will be the operating system of choice, and at least the Galapagos A01SH ekes out 7.5 hours of battery life – decent enough for an Android tablet. No idea on pricing just yet though – how much are you willing to fork out for one of these?
