At long last, after going through some “ayes” and “nays” to the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the HTC Desire, here it is on an official basis right from the horse’s mouth. HTC UK has announced the availability of this update that will deliver a Gingerbread experience although the HTC Sense interface will be compromised, coming as a ROM. Just what does this mean? Well, your device will undergo a factory reset, and it does not guarantee smooth running afterwards, either. Basically, go for this ROM update only if you have all your data safely backed up, and you do not use the Desire as your primary handset.
