Brandon Marshall has had a number of incidents off the field that have left many wondering whether he was a bad apple. On Sunday, Brandon Marshall announced that he may have found an answer for his behavior. The superstar wide receiver for the Miami Dolphins says he has been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder.
Due to the borderline personality disorder, Brandon Marshall said it left him unhappy and depressed for most of his life. He says that he’s going public with the diagnosis to help raise awareness. Brandon Marshall also said he thinks getting help for the fact that he has borderline personality disorder can help him on the football field.
According to the National Institute of Mental Health, borderline personality disorder can cause bouts of anxiety, depression and anger and can last a matter of minutes or all day. During these bouts, a person may abuse alcohol or drugs, act aggressively or engage in self-injury.
Over the last four seasons, Brandon Marshall has been one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. After three straight years with 100 or more catches while playing with the Denver Broncos, Brandon Marshall finished last season with 86 catches, 1,014 yards and three catches for the Dolphins.
