The Washington Redskins haven’t been very good at running the football the last few years. On Sunday, the Redskins brought in another option at running back by trading for Tim Hightower. In the deal, the Redskins sent Vonnie Holliday and an unspecified pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.
Tim Hightower is a big, powerful runner who excels near the goal line. In his three seasons in the NFL, he has 23 touchdowns. Last season, the running back out of Richmond had 736 rushing yards and averaged 4.8 yards per rush. Tim Hightower’s weakness is that he doesn’t have many moves, however he may be a fit in Washington’s offensive attack because it requires strength and speed more than shiftiness.
Right now, Ryan Torain is the most likely RB to start for the Redskins next season. That said, Ryan Torain is injury prone and Tim Hightower is a legit threat to take his job.
