The NFL lockout hurt a lot of people. People lost jobs, sports writers were left with nothing to write about and football fans were bored out of their minds. But nobody lost as much as Cam Newton.

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft signed with the Carolina Panthers on Friday. However, due to new rookie contract restrictions, Cam Newton’s deal was worth only $22 million.

Sam Bradford, the No. 1 pick in the 2010 draft, got $78 million. Add in the fact that rookie contracts were rising each year and it’s safe to say that Cam Newton lost at least $60 million due to the NFL lockout.

Talk about a tough pill to swallow.
