Shawn Marion must be floating on cloud nine right about now. In the NBA playoffs, he played extremely well and helped lead the Dallas Mavericks to the franchise’s first NBA championship. Now that he’s a star, he can turn down opportunities others would die for. That’s what happened when “Dancing with the Stars” came calling.
According to reports, “Dancing with the Stars” wanted Shawn Marion on the show. Shawn Marion thought about it but ended up saying no. Why? He didn’t want “Dancing with the Stars” getting in the way of next season’s training camp.
While I think Shawn Marion made the right decision — it’s a no-brainer that basketball should come before dancing for a man earning millions of dollars to hoop — his logic may be flawed. Unfortunately, the NBA lockout is going to wipe out the first couple months of the season. That means that “Dancing with the Stars” would be long over by the time Mavs training camp opens up.
“Dancing with the Stars” should go ask Shawn Marion’s teammate Jason Terry to be on the show. He seems like a guy who likes to dance. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
