Peyton Manning signed a $90 million dollar contract on Saturday. The Indianapolis Colts were actually offering him $100 million, but Peyton Manning took less money in order for the team to add more pieces around him. The gesture was noble, to say the least.
The contract locks Peyton Manning up for the next five years. His $18 million per season salary ties him with Tom Brady for the richest deal in the NFL.
Is a five-year contract for the 35-year-old Peyton Manning a risky move for the Colts? Not really. If any QB can play into his 40s, it’d be Peyton Manning. He’s smart and will outwork any other quarterback in the league. Plus, he’s been extremely healthy during his Hall of Fame career.
“Signing Peyton was a top priority for this organization,” said Colts owner Jim Irsay, “and we are thrilled that the deal is complete.”
