We all know Apple’s relationship with Flash, and it was no surprise when the company officially mentioned that they didn’t want to support Flash in iOS. Well short of jailbreaking, there was really no way to watch Flash videos on your iOS device if there wasn’t a HTML5 version of the Flash video available. Until Skyfire came along.
Skyfire, the folks that brought you the Skyfire browser on the iOS; an internet browser that supports the viewing of Flash video has just launched a new app to enable even more Flash content on the iOS operating system. Called VideoQ, this app allows users to watch Flash videos while navigating in Safari or any other browser on the iPhone or iPad. All users have to do is visit a site that has the Flash video they can’t watch, and then share the site URL with VideoQ through either email, bookmarks, or by copying the URL manually in to the app.
VideoQ will then load the Flash videos on the app, using the same conversion technology that is used in the Skyfire web browser to make it watchable on iOS. Other features include the option to watch the top videos of the day as well as trending videos in different channels. Skyfire VideoQ is available now for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad from the Apple App Store ($1.99).
